Ruaha the largest national park in East Africa is on the verge of death due to global warming.

It is so sad to learn about a place you once knew it for it magnificent breath taking scenery, that things will fall apart soon. The great Ruaha what will become of you? "Its 20 years since this problem started and despite the huge sums spent on research, look where we are now!" I quote that from Ruaha National Park blog. The first time I read the post I was so excited that at last there is some one who cares. To my surprise  it is more than a month now and people are not responding about it. I wonder why people don't even comment and give out their ideas on what could be the possible solution to revive the once known Ruaha the Great River. Ruaha river is found within the 23,000 square kilometres Ruaha National Park. It is refered as the best kept secret of East Africa, may be this is why the bad condition of the river is also not know to many. I wish everyone who loves Tanzania know how the wildlife and the entire nation depends on Ruaha. I wrote this poem to see if it would help. Note that am not a poet forgive my poem if it is not that melodious.

Starting with the Safari Awards 2013 winners. What is Safari Awards anyway? The Safari Awards have gone from strength to strength and are now in their fourth year. There are now over 20 categories, with awards including best cuisine, best ecological camp and best spa.

Safari Lager Nyama Choma Competitions Mwanza Finals at Furahisha grounds 2013.

Last week I post on top 16 seasonal activities and outing you don't wanna miss in Tanzania and Nyama Choma (barbecued meat) competitions was included. Now lets explore deeper on Nyama Choma Competitions 2013. This finals took place at Furahisha grounds in Mwanza. I was the number one fanny since I arrive earlier than most people ha ha ha ha!

One thing before we dig a little deeper with the festival, the sponsor is the number one best beer of 2013 in Africa by the Institute of brewing and Distilling Africa. So I call this a win win festival. Not promoting the beer but I guess by the time your in Tanzania you will give it a try. Congratulations to Safari lager Tanzania.

3. Swahili Fashion Week

Swahili Fashion Week is now THE platform for fashion and accessory designers from Swahili speaking countries and the African continent to showcase their talent, market their creativity and network with clientele and the international fashion industry. This is all aimed at emphasizing to the region that fashion is an income generating creative industry, meanwhile promoting a "Made in Africa" concept. It currently is the biggest and largest annual fashion event in the whole of East and Central Africa. This fashion week showcases on December.

4. Kilimanjaro Marathon

The Kilimanjaro marathon is run out of the town of Moshi, at the foot of this iconic mountain. This professionally organized IAAF approved race consists of a full marathon, half marathon and fun run. Set up by the organizers to grow sport and promote tourism in Tanzania, these races attract over 3200 runners from over 50 countries, and numbers are growing yearly.

Known as one of the most scenic races in the world, with Kilimanjaro's white peak looking over the runners as they run through both urban areas and rural farmland and villages, this is a must on all runners’ wish lists. March is the month of the competition. You register on February and race on March.

5. Fiesta

Fiesta Tanzania is the annual celebration of Bongo flava music, the festival brings in local flavor from local artists to international arts worldwide from such as Lil Kim, Ludacris, Ricky Ross and many others, you name them. Its evolves from the regional level and finally its gets to down town Dar es salaam to wind up the event. The finalizing festival happens on September most of times at Leaders Club ground.

6. Nyama Choma Competition (Meat Roasting)

It involves various cities and town such as Dar es salaam, Arusha, Mwanza and others. It’s a competition of roasting meat where the top five bars with the best roasted meat gets into regional final. Leaders Club grounds kinondoni gathers winners from Dar es salaam and there is where the fun at, you will enjoy the sweet aroma and the meat itself. It’s very delicious, March is its season. 

7. Miss Tanzania

Re-presenters for Miss World from Tanzania are prepared and nurtured here. It is among the very popular red carpet event in the country. The show acclaims International audience since it's prepared in an international manner. It features high performance from the pea-gentry themselves and from local and international artists. The event is carried on November.

8. Canoe Competition.

 Do you love water sports? Mwanza  got you covered on this. Come and compete in the largest lake in Africa, the lake Victoria canoe competition. If you have got the skills and the speed why not participating? Date and month of the competition is on October.

9. Goat Race.

It is the best for family day out, here there is a lot of family entertainment, kids corner and family picnic area. While the goats have to race you got to rest and enjoy the race. It is 13 years old now and it is held at Msasani Peninsula, on June. 

10. Miss Utalii (Tourism) Tanzania

The Pageants aims at promotion of tourism, culture and Investment of the world and the Nations, it also aims at promotion of Education, Health, Environments, Unite and Peace among Nations. Come and see the authentic beauties of Tanzania and at the same time enjoying the colorful event and meet new friends.

11. Rock City Marathon

Aims at promoting local tourism in Tanzania, but foreigners are warmly welcome to compete. This competition takes place in Mwanza, the home of Saa Nane Island National Park, the Lake Victoria and were the famous Nile Perch and Tilapia fish are much found. You will enjoy the magnificent rocky scenery and Tilapia for dinner. It’s Amazing. The marathon is mainly on October.

12. Tanzania Premier League.

It was started in 1965, the league consists of 14 teams playing a double round-robin. There are so many merging stars from Tanzania football so surely don't want to miss watching them kicking it like Messi and Ronaldo. The league takes off on September.

13. Wildebeest Migrations

The best time to see the migration is usually between June and August when the wildebeest congregate and prepare to cross the Grumeti River. However the route and timing of the migration is unpredictable so visitors must plan carefully to be assured of seeing the spectacle.
During the early wet season (December to April) the animals are found on the short grass plains around Lake Ndutu, the Moru Kopjes, the Gol Mountains and Seronera in the south of the park.

14. Darts Championship

This is for those who like indoor sports, its Darts Championship. Join the huge number of participating players from several regions across the country. Simply find a club in your region register and your already in the game.

15. Kili Music Awards

Here comes the Grammy Awards for Tanzania, its Kili Music Awards. This is a special night to honor the best musicians or artists in the country and across East Africa. Have you heard the sweet melodies from Tanzania? Its your chance to find out what Music means in Tanzania. All genres are included from coastal music known as Taarab to Bongo flava and so many more. The event is mostly held on April or May.

16. Mount Kilimanjaro hiking

There are so many reasons to climb to the roof of Africa, you name them. Here is the best season to hike to this 5895m standing mountain. Due to Mount Kilimanjaro's proximity to the equator, this region does not experience the extremes of winter and summer weather, but rather dry and wet seasons. Therefore, the best time to climb Kilimanjaro tends to be the warmest and driest months (see Kilimanjaro weather).

Tanzania on the edge of glory after the big win at the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa.

Who can beat the famous three out of the seven African Natural wonders?

It all happened last Sunday in the tourism capital of Tanzania the magnificent Arusha. All eyes where in Arusha where the official naming of the new Seven Natural Wonders of Africa were declared.

Tanzania had three entries which were Mountain Kilimanjaro, Serengeti Migration and Ngorongoro Crater. Believe it or not among the twelve entries from all over Africa, Tanzania won three places from its  three entries. I remember how I took take and campaigned for this to happen, and here I am so proud. Infact very happy considering this took place in Tanzania and yet Tanzania won it big! 

I was not in Arusha but I new what was happening and I decided to gather worthy reading news from a site that I follow; allAfrica . Am certain that they won't mind for me giving just a bit from the story here:

Arusha — SERENGETI National Park was declared the best of the seven New Natural Wonders of Africa as all the three entries from Tanzania made it to the coveted seven.

Announcing the new 'Seven Wonders' of nature here, the President and Founder of the Texas (US)-based 'New Seven Wonders,' Dr Philip Imler, revealed that though the seven wonders are not ranked in positions, Serengeti stood out due to its legendary, spellbinding largest migration of large mammals.

Ngorongoro Crater, found within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority, and described as 'The Bowl' in which a variety of wildlife live,' was also voted among the Seven Wonders of Nature while Mount Kilimanjaro, which is Africa's highest mountain, became the third entry from the country.

How to reach climax enjoyment when in Tanzania via tourism activities and sports.

It is well known that  everything and anything is as fully enjoyed if and only if you get to the climax point. Consider this example: Biology has taught us that ejaculation is the climax point for men when making love. You and I need to feel that we are satisfied to the fullest. And this is the reason why we act, think and talk they way we do, so that we get satisfied.

Travel and Tourism is among-est the popular way of re-energizing, refreshing and or re-boosting back our enthusiasm towards life. That is why we opt for vacations and holidays now and then.

You have had your share of vacations and holidays in your favorite destinations, but this time is Tanzania's time. Oh yeah! am serious about this.

Apart from the 15 famous National Parks and various Game Reserves that I bet you know at least 4 of them, there is much more other things to do than visiting the parks.

You can't leave Tanzania for any reason without doing at least 3 of these activities and sports.

Hot Air Balloon flights
Flights by hot air balloon take off as dawn breaks over the Serengeti National Park, the perfect silence of the early morning plains broken only by the soft roar of the balloon. Far below, wildebeest scatter, looking everywhere but up at the silent visitor that floats over their world. Giraffe stand next to acacia trees, untroubled by the airborne visitors. After the thrill of landing, a champagne breakfast awaits, the air becoming warmer as the sun climbs in the sky and curious zebra look up from their grazing at the chink of cutlery in the still, warm bush.

Deep sea and inland fishing

The water around Zanzibar and Pemba islands is considered by experts to offer some of the best fishing in the world, especially the Pemba Channel, between Zanzibar and Pemba, and around Mafia Island, south of Zanzibar. Big game fish include barracuda, kingfish, sailfish, billfish, wahoo, dorado and blue marlin. Rivers are stocked with trout around Mt Kilimanjaro and Mt Meru. Large rivers such as the Kilombero and Great Ruaha offer fabulous sport fishing for tiger fish, and large Nile perch can be caught in the great lakes, especially Lake Victoria.

Diving and snorkeling
The coral reefs off Tanzania’s coast around Zanzibar and Mafia Island offer some of the world’s finest scuba diving and snorkeling. Diving is possible all year round, although the Kusi Monsoon (strongest June-Sept) is accompanied by choppy seas and strong currents that make the more exposed reefs inaccessible. There can also be strong winds in December and January. Visibility is best from November to March, before the long rains set in.

Horse riding safari

Horse riding safaris are available from a few camps in Tanzania, for all standards of rider. Wild animals are not afraid of horses in the same way that they are of cars or pedestrians, allowing visitors to approach the wildlife much more closely than usual.

Mountain climbing and hiking

For most climbers who visit Tanzania, the 5,869m Kilimanjaro is the top prize. Mt Meru, another of Tanzania’s volcanic peaks, is also popular, with the varied animal and plant life to be found on its slopes a major draw. Meru is Africa’s fifth highest peak, with fabulous views of Mount Kilimanjaro and the Momela Lakes from the summit. The challenging ascent to the crater of Ol Donyo Lengai passes through some fantastic scenery, with panoramic views of the Rift Valley. The track to the top of Lengai is very steep, and a true challenge attempted only by hikers with a good level of fitness.

Paragliding and microlight flights
There are some fabulous areas to para-glide. Very few people para-glide in Tanzania, therefore it is a novelty. Always seek permission from the local village, explain what you are doing and where you think you will land (it is illegal to fly over national parks). Just some of the areas to fly are the Usambaras, the Rift Valley and numerous hills around Mt Meru. Microlight flights are now also available over Lake Manyara National Park and the Great Rift Valley.

Boat safaris
The soft chug of an outboard engine, or the whispering flap of a canvas sail; boat safaris in Tanzania are a tranquil and relaxing way to watch wildlife. This is one of the best ways to see the Selous Game Reserve, up the huge muddy brown sweep of the Rufiji River, leopard whisking away from rocks at the boat’s approach. Sail into chimpanzee territory on a dhow, skimming over the fresh, crystal waters of Lake Tanganyika, or travel up the Wami River in Saadani, surrounded by amazing bird life, hippos and alligators.

Walking Safaris
A walk through the African bush is a wonderful way to experience Africa intimately. Smells and sounds become distinct and varied, and smaller creatures gain significance. They are no longer simply rushed past in the race for the bigger game. When larger animals do appear, they are met at eye level; the land is truly shared between humans and animals. Safety is not an issue – all walks are accompanied by armed, experienced guides and game rangers. Walks can be from a few hours to a full day with picnic lunch. Many hotels and camps will offer guided walks in the national parks or community areas.

Cultural Tourism
In Tanzania, a land of superb landscapes and spectacular wildlife, another attraction stands equally tall – the people. Tanzania’s people are among the most welcoming and approachable on earth, with a range of fascinating cultures ready to be shared with visitors. From the Wa Chagga of the slopes of Kilimanjaro to the now world-famous Maasai, a cultural excursion or a longer stay among local people is likely to become one of the most rewarding experiences of any holiday in Tanzania.

Spa Treatments.

The perfect way to ease tired limbs after an exhilarating day's game viewing or in preparation for the beach, there are now many hotels, resorts and lodges in Tanzania and Zanzibar offering world class spa facilities to keep you feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. 

Whale Watching.

Tanzania's Indian Ocean is home to one of the least known populations of Humpback Whales in the world. Researchers from Stockholm University and the University of Dar es Salaam are studying the Humpback Whales found near Zanzibar to learn more about their population and conservation status. The herds of migrating whales arrive in the waters around Zanzibar in late July, and August is now becoming the most popular month for sightings.

Kitesurfing.
Kitesurfing has become the hottest and most popular up-and-coming activity in Zanzibar. Kitesurfing centres are popping up all along the east coast of the island, providing adrenaline seeking visitors with the chance to undertake lessons and get out on the waves while on holiday.

Apart from these, there are also seasonal activities and outings to die for in Tanzania. These activities can be combined with your safaris to the wildlife parks and you will get maximum enjoyment.

Did you know that Susan Mashabe's great grand father Mzee Saa Nane Chawandi was the sole owner of the now Saa Nane Island National Park?

This is according to Suzan's testimony and Amazing Tanzania Tours.

It is confirmed that Saa Nane Island brought Susan Mashibe into her present spotlight life. You probably must be wondering what is Saa Nane Island and what has it got to do with her? And who is Susan Mashibe anyway?

Let us take it from here:

Saa Nane Island National Park is a small wildlife sanctuary of only 0.5km sq size. It is situated on rocky Island in Lake Victoria. It is described as the first national park in the city. It will only take you 15 minutes through a boat ride to get there if you are in Mwanza City Center.

It is a home to Impala, rock hyrax, vervet monkeys, wild cats, claw-less otters and many other wild animals.

It was named after the Mzee Saa Nane Chiwandi who was the owner of the Island. In 1964 it became the first ever zoo in Tanzania.

My first if not early encounter was when she appeared as the cover girl on Fema Magazine.

The coordination between Saa Nane and Suzan Mashibe is that, This young Iron woman's ancestors happened to live there. It is her roots.

She claims that her Great grand father Mr. or Mzee Saa Nane lived there and her mother was born there as well. It was so until when Tanzania decided to take the island and make it the first ever zoo in 1964. 

The conversation I personally had with her on tweeter says it all.

She disclosed via direct message on tweeter that " glad to hear that. I am also very happy that you tweeted about Sanane Island. That is where my roots are from. I am a Sanane upande wa mama".

My personal view of the scenario pushes me to say that Tanzania (Tanapa) should think of making this young global leader the Official Ambassador of Saa Nane National Park. She is worthy it!
